I have some disappointing news to share with you. After the last three-four months of difficult deliberations within the Association and then a renewed effort of extensive marketing attempts this summer, on Monday night, the Clark County Lutheran School Association Board of Directors voted to cease operations of Faith Lutheran School in Vancouver effective immediately.

It is the intent to vacate our rental facilities at Safe Harbor Nazarene Church by the end of August and to disband the Association by October 31st.

Factors that lead to less than required enrollment for this fall are all to common to our ears... the economy and ability for parents to pay full tuition, Full-day Kindergarten competition by public schools, Spanish immersion programs by public schools, the heavy competition from other local Christian schools in a price war for the same students, financial difficulties of Association congregations, the permit issues with the City, and the rising cost of operations.

We certainly appreciate the opportunity to serve the Lord these past 6 years of operations and appreciate the efforts and prayers of so many more people over the years of previous preparations to start the first Lutheran day school in Vancouver, Washington. The people of Trinity Lutheran School in Portland Oregon were an instrumental part of the physical start-up of our school. We sincerely appreciate the support of you, our colleagues in ministry where you have assisted Faith Lutheran in the past through a variety of ways.

What we can celebrate is Faiths ministry to over 70 students and their families during this short period of time, which, resulting in 7 baptisms for the Kingdom of God, and lots of new found relationships with our Lord and Savior!

Furthermore, I have determined it will cost us almost $27,000 just to shut down! To help defer some of the costs of shutting down including a month of severance for the staff, I am asking that if anyone is so inclined to contribute one last time, to consider a thank offering for Faith's 6 years for ministry in any amount. You may make your check payable to the Clark County Lutheran School Association, 8100 East Mill Plain Blvd. Vancouver WA 98664. Please write Thankoffering on the memo line.

Signing off for now....I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11-12).

Blessings, Tom Grunow, Executive Director Clark County Lutheran School Association

Our Mission

Faith Lutheran School is dedicated to enabling children to achieve their full intellectual, physical, and spiritual potential, and devoted to reaching out to the Clark County community with the love of Jesus Christ.

Full Day Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third Grades, and Before and After School Program!

Located near SE Washington Hospital, Faith Lutheran School is a continuation of the area Lutheran pre-schools in providing a quality program of Christian Education. The intent is to eventually have grades K through 5. The school began with Kindergarten in fall, 2004. This coming school year, 2010 - 2011, we will be offering Full Day Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade and a Before and After School Program where, if needed, students may be dropped off at school as early as 6:30 AM and picked up by 6 PM for the nominal fee of $4.40 per hour, with a maximum of $17.00 per day.

Faith Lutheran School offers Christ-centered quality education in a loving, family oriented, small class size setting. Learning opportunities that offer challenges are incorporated into the school day, therefore promoting and encouraging each student to work to their full potential. They are guided, encouraged, and taught by a staff of qualified, experienced, loving educators.

We believe in kids and God's love for all of us!

Because God loves us so very much, He forgives us when we sin and encourages us to lead a life that is pleasing to Him. We believe that the Bible is the true Word of God, and is the guide for our lives. At Faith Lutheran School we strive to follow God's Law and rejoice in forgiveness and His gifts. Because God sent His son, Jesus, to die on the cross to take away our sins, we will all be together in Heaven some day!
